The Nature Center is closed until further notice due to a tragic drowning near one of the group picnic areas. The walking trails are still open and accessible from The Cochran Mill Battlefield park.

The good the bad and the buggy. A short review of the park.

The good things about this park is that it's just down the road from Cochran Mill Battlefield Park and the trail from the Nature Center connects to Cochran Mill Battlefield Park there are several trails that connect so you can choose a short hike or a long one. The bad things about this park is that the trails are sometimes not well marked. the buggy I’m a bugs favorite person to bite so on a scale of 1 meaning I didn’t get bitten to 10 meaning I was a mosquito, gnat etc. chew toy, this park is a 5. I'd say bring your usual bug repellant. The bugs here are about the same as anywhere else.

Bear Creek Nature Center is a private non-profit that aims to spread the joy of nature and the outdoor world. Since opening in the Spring of 2020, our goal is to teach people of all ages in our community about our environment, hoping that they will cultivate a personal awareness, appreciation of, and participation in the natural world, especially of our native ecosystem. We teach a wide range of environmental and wildlife sciences, including zoology, botany, and ecology. Though nestled in rural, mixed hardwood forest, we are only 20 minutes from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. We’re proud to be the only nature center in Georgia with live bats on exhibit. We also have several reptiles and birds of prey as resident animal ambassadors.
