The good, the bad, and the buggy, a short review of the park.
The good thing about this park is the bird garden. There were a LOT of squirrels and chipmunks eating the bird seed on the ground. There was also a bench where you could sit and take pictures (if you had a good zoom) and quite a few birds came by as well. The squirrels never left though. There was always at least 5 Squirrels and at least 2 chipmunks all the time.
The bad things about this park are that some intersections on the trail were not marked and you have to print your own map or make do with a picture of the map at the trailhead. Also the trail starts in a neighborhood so there is limited street parking only. This preserve has no parking area of its own. I almost forgot but, it had rained the day before so the trail was muddy and the boardwalk was slippery. If I hadn't been wearing good shoes that might have been a problem.
The buggy I’m a bug’s favorite chew toy so how much did they love me? A little, I forgot to use bug spray and went just after it rained so it was my fault that I got bit.
What Kind of Park is this? This is a nature preserve with walking trails. (1 jogger ran by but I wouldn't have choose this trail to run on.)
1. The Parks views: The bird garden with squirrels and chipmunks was great but the two bird viewing blinds and the lookout areas looked out on the beaver pond that was dried up despite rain the day before and the river that was just brown water so what may be a nice view some times of the year was no good when I went in May.
2. The Parks cost: Free
3. The Parks bathrooms: No, you better stop somewhere before you start.
4. How long is the hike? About an hour
5. The parks shopping and souvenirs: None
6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access? No
7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers? About normal, meaning that there was a map at the trailhead and on line and the trail was well maintained but there were several intersections with no signs and some where it told you what trail you left but not which one you were going to now.
8. Is the park kid and dog friendly? Yes, I guess, the kids would love the bird garden and dogs are welcome with a leash and there is 1 dog clean up station.
9. Was there a uniqueness to the park? I'm going to say NO. The bird garden was great but other parks have areas where you can view birds and squirrels.
10. Was it worthwhile? I'm going to say NO however, if you are in Decatur - Atlanta and this is close by It would probably be a nice place to go.

18. What would I have brought or left behind if I hiked this trail again? I would have used bug spray before I left, and I was glad I had waterproof shoes.
19. How far is this from Atlanta? It's in Decatur so just next door
20. Spirit Animal for the park? Today I saw Cardinals, Squirrels, Chipmunks, a dragonfly, and a house finch.
The trails spirit animal is selected by any animal I see at the park or on my way to the park. I find that looking for the day’s spirit animal makes my hike more fun and reminds me to stop and enjoy the beauty of my journey. Today’s spirit animal is: The house finch. There were a lot more squirrels and chipmunks but I'm going with the house finch because I don't always see them in the woods.
The name of this trail is? I took the beaver pond trail to the Pine forest Trail to the wetland meadow trail to the sheep ridge trail and then took the hardwood forest trail back.
