What Kind of Park is this? This is a Georgia State Park
1. The parks views:
Oh lovely!! Great panoramic views. The parking for the trail is across from the Calloway Country Store and Restaurant. Both of them close at 3:oo PM, but the restaurant has a great view from the patio area in back and the view from the parking area is really wonderful. You get some other panoramic views from the trail so you may want to bring your camera. I used the all trails app. for this hike and was glad to have it because the start (same place as the end of the loop) was a little tricky to find.
2. The Parks cost:
Free, but I'd spend a little for a desert at the restaurant (just for the view of course) if I got there before 3:00.
3. The Parks bathrooms: They have bathrooms at the country store if your there before 3:00. The visitors center (different location) for the park also has bathrooms but if your not going early I'd stop at a gas station before I hike.
4. How long is the hike?
3.6 miles
5. The parks shopping and souvenirs:
Both the country store and the visitor center have souvenirs. The little White house also has a gift store.
6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access?
The views are from the parking area so they are, but the hiking paths are through the woods and are not. So no star.
7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers?
I would suggest the all trails app. The maps and markers can be a little hard to figure out. If you use all trails to guide you leave the app running but your screen off so that it will still be able to locate you when it can't find a signal. The visitor center worker said the maps she had only showed the camp ground and the log cabins, but the map did show the entire trail as well. The part showing the trail is small though so you may need your glasses. Also there are large maps that you can look at outside the visitor center and inside on the back wall. Also they have maps for sale in the store and on the web site but they cost $5.00 and I wouldn't spend it unless you are going back often or spending a lot of time camped there. So 1/2 Star
