The good the bad and the buggy. A short review of the park.
The good thing about this park is that it's located right next to a shopping center, racetrack gas station and restaurants but feels like it's a walk thru the woods. You can also wade in the stream or feed the geese in the pond. The bad things about this park is that there are places where the trail is not easily followed and in those places there are no markers, but the places where the trail is easily followed the trail is well marked. They need to paint lines on the rock part and put up signs where it looks like the trail veers off. the buggy I’m a bug’s favorite chew toy so how much did they love me? not much this time of year. I went in early March. The pollen though was bad and it had just rained so the trail was a little muddy in places but that is just nature.
What Kind of Park is this? Answer is Nature Preserve with pond river and picnic areas and walking trails
1. The parks views: Nice views of the river, pond, forest, birds, turtles and geese.
2. The Parks cost: Free no parking fee either
3. The Parks bathrooms: New and nice and clean. They are located by the parking lot near the trail head
4. How long is the hike? A little more then an hour
5. The parks shopping and souvenirs: Lots of shopping right next to the park.
6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access? The parking lot, bathrooms, Gazebo, Picnic area and pond have access but the trails have roots and rock and no access for either.
7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers? Answer is The map at the start of the trail is the same as the one on this page and was very helpful, but the trail needed markers in places where the trail wasn't obvious. Oddly when the trail was easy to follow it was marked well too.
8. Is the park kid and dog friendly? Yes bring shorts and shoes you can take off easily and walk in the shallow part of the river if it's warm. Also keep your dogs on a leash especially near the pond with ducks. It's a great place to bring your family including furry friends.
9. Is there good internet service? Yes there is
10. Was it worthwhile? Yes, this isn't my first or last visit.
Bonus Questions
11. What amenities did the park provide? It has a large seating amphitheater type area for groups to meet. It also has several picnic tables near the pond. The bathrooms are new and clean and the pond has a fishing dock. You can walk in the shallow part of the river but I don't know if you can fish or swim. I don't think you can but I'm not sure.
12. Was there tent, cabin and RV camping? Nope, this is a nature preserve and is open only during the day.
13. Places nearby to eat? We ate at the Chic-fil-a but there are lots of restaurants near by including a steak house and the flying biscuit.
14. Was there a gas station nearby? The Race Track is right next to it. You don't even have to go onto Hwy 54 to get there.
15. How safe was the park? Very, but keep water safety in mind especially with kids.
16. Spirit Animal for the park? A beautiful turtle sat on a rock until I tried to take it's picture then splash it was gone. But still it's my spirit animal today, although the geese were nice too.
