Updated: Sep 23, 2023

The Parks Address and Phone

Address: 181 Morgan Rd, Fayetteville, GA 30215

Hours: 7AM-7PM Every day

The Parks web page says: This 60-acre property near the Flint River in east Fayette County gives visitors a first-hand glimpse of a retired working forest with an adjacent bottomland habitat. The Trust is enhancing the site based on the property’s recent land management history. The Trust established part of the nature area as a site for the public to view forestry best management practices.

The Morgan Grove Nature Area showcases both natural succession & active management. During the spring a vibrant butterfly garden is maintained to attract pollinators to the area. A small network of trails winds through the natural successional areas, young pine forest, and bottomland forest near Gay Creek.

This parks rating is 4-5 out of 10 stars

The good, the bad, and the buggy, a short review of the park.

The good things about this park is that the trails are so well maintained. They were about 3 feet wide the entire way with very little debris (branches etc.). My favorite part was when I saw a doe in the trail. She only let me see her for seconds before leaping out of site but it was the closest I've ever been to a wild deer. She was probably upset to see a person on the trail when it was raining. I'm sure if she could she'd be complaining to management saying "humans aren't allowed on the trails when its raining. It's just not right."

The bad things about this park is that the way GPS took me to it was not paved for about the last mile. The road was very sketchy, but when I left it was paved the entire way so it's more the GPS then the park. I guess the only bad thing about the park its self is the bathroom is a single port-a-potty.

The buggy I’m a bug’s favorite chew toy so how much did they love me? The flies and misquotes seem to be kept to a minimum by something eating them! Hooray!!

What Kind of Park is this? This is a southern trust nature area.

1. The Parks views: I saw a deer! But other then that it was very plain. The deer was really cool though.

2. The Parks cost: Free

3. The Parks bathrooms: A port-a potty at the edge of the parking lot. Hey, it's better then nothing.

4. How long is the hike? Answer is 1,591 steps = .64 miles. It could easily be made into a mile or more. I took the shortest loop.

5. The parks shopping and souvenirs: None.

6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access? I think you could manage either on this trail.

7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers? The trail was easy to follow even though the map wasn't provided or maybe because the map wasn't provided. The reason I say it that is trail #1 on the map (red trail) was marked with yellow paint on the trees and posts. trail #2 (yellow trail) was marked the same way with red paint and posts. I never saw the blue trail because it was raining so I hurried back to the car.

8. Is the park kid and dog friendly? Yes, although dogs need to be on a leash and other then walking there isn't a lot for kids to do.

9. Was there a uniqueness to the park? No, not really.

10. Was it worthwhile? Yes if your in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to get there though.

17. Is there good internet service? Yes

18. What would I have brought or left behind if I hiked this trail again?

A drink or bug spray maybe. Also I would have printed the map even though you need to ignore the colors on the map.

20. Spirit Animal for the park? Doe a deer a female deer. Yeah, the Sound of Music movie quote just came out.
