The good the bad and the buggy. A short review of the park.
The good things about this park….. the trail is a loop trail and I prefer that to the there and back kind of hike. Also if your looking for a trail through the woods in Newnan I think this is as close as your going to get. Also it's one mile long so for me it's a good distance. The trail goes through fern and leaf covered forest and is really beautiful. The bad thing about the park is even though it hasn't rained today the trail was still a little muddy and slick. One of the web pages said all trails are closed one hour after rain but if it rained anytime the day I was going I would cancel this trail. Also no bathrooms although there is a Publix and Kroger near by and some fast food places you can go to if you need to. "the buggy" I’m a bugs favorite person to bite so on a scale of 1 meaning I didn’t get bitten to 10 meaning I was a mosquito, gnat etc. chew toy, this park is a ……2 I got one mosquito bite ( it paid for its crime with its life.) I made sure to tuck my pants into my shoes, and had long sleeves on.
The web page says:
The Roller Coaster Trail features one mile of mountain bike trail.
The trail is part of the Newnan Trail Network
amenities: Parking
Open: dusk to dawn
What Kind of Park is this?
The web pages say it's a mountain bike trail and that's the main reason I didn't check it out earlier. However the sign at the start of the trail shows clearly it's also for hiking and really if your going to bring your mountain bike you better bring some skills as well.
1. The parks views:
It's a really beautiful trail and its well named. It has lots of small hills and dips as the trail goes winding and twisting through the forest.
2. The Parks cost:
Free
3. The Parks bathrooms:
You better go to the bathroom before you leave because no it doesn't provide any.
4. How long is the hike?
One mile.
5. The parks shopping and souvenirs:
No this is more a nature trail.
6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access?
The trail has a walkway to the Linc trail that is wheelchair/stroller accessible but the roller coaster trail is not.
7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers?
The map provided on the web site and below is great but the trail doesn't have any maps, however the trail markers are good and the trail is easy to follow.
8. Is the park kid and dog friendly?
Yes to both.
9. Is there a uniqueness about the trail?
No this is your average trail through the woods
10. Was it worthwhile?
Yes, I'll go back again.
