What Kind of trail is this? This is a paved 1.25 mile loop trail through natural woods.

The Parks Amenities: Answer is There is a very large pavilion that has a ceiling with fans. The pavilion also has a stage, picnic tables, bench swings and bathrooms. As you drive in there are multi purpose open fields great for ball games etc.

The Parks web page says: The web page only has the address, driving directions and some pictures.

This parks rating is 10 out of 10 stars

The good, the bad, and the buggy, a short review of the park.

The good things about this park is it's the best of all the things I look for! It's trail has benches to rest or snack etc. the entire way, you don't run out of good places to rest half way through or at the end like many park trails. Also you get the woods and forest experience but the advantage of a paved trail that gives you protection from spider webs, and bugs or snakes etc. that may be hiding under a branch you step over. Also the bathrooms had flush toilets, lights, soap dispensers that were full and recently emptied trash cans and paper towels instead of blow dryers. Finally my favorite part was the trail markers! They were not really needed to find your way because it was almost entirely paved and was very easy to follow but, there were markers telling you where the trail started, and again at the 1/4 mile mark, the 1/2 mile mark, the 3/4 mile mark, the mile mark and the end. This trail would be great for not only walking but running. I did see a sign that had fallen over that said no skating or bikes but that just makes it nicer if you are walking or running. For me it was perfect!

The bad things about this park was, well there wasn't anything bad about it unless you want a park with a playground or bike path etc., oh and the parking area was just dirt and grass and not really marked as parking but there was plenty of it.

The buggy I’m a bug’s favorite chew toy so how much did they love me? I used bug spray and didn't get any bites.

What Kind of Park is this? I'm not sure, it's not a State Park, and most county parks have a parking fee and this one did not. The sign on the pavilion that gave a number to call said to call the Carroll County Rec. Center and it is also the location for the American Legion, Marine Corps League and Son of the American Revolution so I think they may have something to do with how well kept up the trail is.

1. The Parks views: Natural wooded area.

2. The Parks cost: Free

3. The Parks bathrooms: They were great, clean and well stocked with everything including soap and towels and almost empty trash cans.

4. How long is the hike? Answer is 1.4 miles

5. The parks shopping and souvenirs: There was nothing at the park but it's close to downtown Carrollton.

6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access? Answer is Yes, and except for a very small part it was all level without hills.

7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers? The only thing I wish it had was a map on the bulletin boards at the beginning and end but I have included a map and as I said above distance markers were at every quarter of a mile and the paved path was very easy to follow.

8. Is the park kid and dog friendly? Yes, although I didn't see any doggie clean up stations and the park doesn't have a playground I'm sure kids and dogs would love running on and exploring this trail.

9. Was there a uniqueness to the park? YES, It is absolutely the only trail I have encountered that has markers every quarter of a mile so you know how far you have gone and how much farther you have to go to get to the end of the loop, back to your car, food and of course the bathrooms. This is a awesome idea that I wish all trails had! The distance markers also had the name of the trail on each one. Although there was only one trail, again I wish other parks had this so that you know absolutely what trail you are on and know that you are going the right way. Also the trail had benches to sit on all along the way not just at the beginning where you aren't tired yet and don't need them.

10. Was it worthwhile? YES, YES, AND YES!!!

Bonus Questions

11. Was the trail shaded or in the sun? Shade all the way!!

12. Was there tent, cabin and RV camping? No, no camping.

13. Places nearby to eat? Plenty of places within minutes of the park

14. Was there a gas station nearby? Plenty of gas stations within minutes of the park

15. How safe was the park? I felt very safe even though only one other car was there when I went and the person from the car was doing something at the pavilion picnic area and not hiking.

16. Is the park maintained well? Absolutely, one of the best maintained parks I have seen.

17. Is there good internet service? I think so but didn't try to use it.

18. What would I have brought or left behind if I hiked this trail again?

I was glad I used bug spray and I forgot to bring water so getting a drink after I finished was on the top of my list but the trail wasn't that long so you really don't need anything.

19. How far is this from Atlanta? 50 minutes to 1 hour

20. Spirit Animal for the park?

The trails spirit animal is selected by any animal I see at the park or on my way to the park. I find that looking for the day’s spirit animal makes my hike more fun and reminds me to stop and enjoy the beauty of my journey. Today’s spirit animal is: A white moth. There were plenty of squirrels and grass hoppers, but this is the first white moth I have seen and it stayed still so I could get a picture of it, so it's todays winner.
