There and back trail.

The good the bad and the buggy. A short review of the park.

The good things about this walking trail is that it's a short walk and a nice view most of the way The bad thing about this trail is there is no bathroom for the trail, although you could go to one of the shops down town and there is a public bathroom at the C. Jay Smith Park. the buggy I’m a bugs favorite person to bite so on a scale of 1 meaning I didn’t get bitten to 10 meaning I was a mosquito, gnat etc. chew toy, this park is a 1 although I've only been there in the fall, so not many bugs are out this time of year.

The Parks web page says: C.J. Smith Park: a 12-acre community park located on Farmer Street. The park is divided in half into two distinct sections separated by a steep wooded bank. The park contains a playground, skate park, splash pad, and a pavilion open to the public.

Location: 5 Glenn Street, Newnan, GA (for C. Jay Smith Park) the address for the newnan end is above, because the best place to park for the trail if you're starting in Newnan is the Train Depot (in the circle at the bottom left of map).

Park/Pavilion reservations are not available for this park. For requests to host large, regional events (specifically related to the skate park) please contact the Leisure Services Department at 678-673-5506.

What Kind of Park is this? The park is a skate park and play ground but the walking trail (the linc) that goes thru the park is a part of a long walking trail that goes thru several nature preserves. The trail is an out and back trail either from the park to the depot and back or the other way around.

1. The parks views: The park is a beautiful park and the walking trail has a board walk that goes over a pond/wetlands that is very nice.

2. The Parks cost: Free

3. The Parks bathrooms:

The Skate park has a bathroom that is very nice and clean. The beginning of the walking trail starts near the Newnan Train Depot and down town Newnan so you can go to one of the businesses down town and most likely use their bathroom.

4. How long is the hike?

about 1 mile each way

5. The parks shopping and souvenirs:

The park has no shopping etc. but you can shop in down town. You can take pictures for souvenirs and the ice cream truck often makes a stop at the park.

6. Does the park have wheelchair and stroller access?

Yes and the trail has access for both.

7. How helpful are the parks maps and markers?

Bad, bad, bad! The trail once you find it is clearly marked though.

8. Is the park kid and dog friendly?

Answer is Yes, but I'm sure your dog needs to be on a leash especially because there may be young kids learning to ride a bike or use roller skates and a dog running at them could easily cause an injury.

9. Is there a uniqueness about the trail?

Yes and no. Georgia has several paved multipurpose paths and though the scenery is different on all of them they also have a similarity in landscape, animals, and plants, and they are all designed to protect our wetlands and give us access to them for us to appreciate and enjoy.

10. Was it worthwhile? Yes I loved it.
